The Perfect Plot (Nancy Drew Files, No 76)
Published in Paperback by Simon Pulse (December, 1994)
Authors: Carolyn Keene and Anne Greenberg
Average review score:

Superb!
IT was absolutely great. One of the best of Nancy Drew. It was quite different from rest of the books . One keeps on guessing who could be the culprit. And you will only know when you finish the book.

Phonemic Awareness: Playing With Sounds to Strengthen Beginning Reading Skills
Published in Paperback by Creative Teaching Pr (March, 1997)
Authors: Jo Fitzpatrick, Rosa Drew, and Terry Petersen
Average review score:

Hours of Fun with Words!
This is one of those books I use over and over again with my K-3 reading groups. The kids love the activities and I am happy with what they are learning. To be good readers, children need to be able to hear the sounds that make words, change sounds in words to make new words, and see the relationship between sounds. This book supplies you with over 60 exciting lessons for just that. The lessons are easy to do and many you can do without any materials. The book does supply you with the needed reproducible manipulatives, picture cards, and word lists

One of my favorite and easy activities in the book is called Rhyme Away. You draw the given picture on the board and erase parts of the picture as you read clues to the class. The students have to finish a rhyme phrase and then erase that picture on the board. That is a Level 1 activity in the book. The activities range in Levels from 1 to 5. There are activities for rhyming, blending, syllable counting, sound matching, phoneme isolation, phoneme counting, phoneme substitution, phoneme deletion, and more!

This book gets my full approval and I am so happy to have found it.

PICTURE OF GUILT (NANCY DREW FILES 101) : PICTURE OF GUILT

Art, scandel, and murder run rampit in France this winter.
I now see why France is such a popular place to visit something is always going on. Murder, theft, random accidents, art, and parties. I liked this book it was suspenseful. The characters were twisted and the suspense never died. My favorite part of the book was where Nancy was right on the edge of solving the crime then gets new leads that disturb the previous leads. I felt bad for George. She unfortunantly gets involved with the wrong guy yet again. Nancy finds out that Georges' new love not only does some terrible stealing, but he also tries to kill both George and Nancy by locking them in a room on the top floor of an abandened building. However that happens in the later part of the story and you know that there were more accidents then that one such as Nancy coincidentally almost falling down a very long flight of concrete stairs. The plot thickens as you read further into the book. You got to read it from the beginning to understand why all of the coinciding accidents occur.

Poison Elves, Vol. 3 (Desert of the Third Sin)
Published in Paperback by Sirius Entertainment Inc (01 March, 1997)
Authors: Drew Hayes and Michael Renegar
Average review score:

I like this series.
I started reading Poison Elves in 1999, because I'm always looking for books about elves. Not Santa's elves, but the elves of the ancient legends of several of our older cultures. I was not disappionted; they are not the kind of elves who sit on mushrooms and sing goofy songs. This book is not for the faint of heart. He's not the good guy at all, but in the world he lives in and with the people he socializes with he may have some redeeming qualities. Lusipher isn't good at socializing anyway. I'll let the reader make their own individual opinion about Lusipher.

Portrait of the Past : The Civil War on Hatteras Island North Carolina
Published in Hardcover by Aerial Perspective (11 June, 2001)
Authors: Drew Pullen, Robert V. Drapala, and Katherine P. Zaremba
Average review score:

Fascinating and Thorough!
I saw Robert Drapala at a book signing last summer on Hatteras Island because I was a fan of his last book, but this one was even more interesting. I did not know that the first amphibious attack of the Civil War was on Hatteras Island--it was absolutely fascinating! The journal drawings are just beautiful, I never knew they existed. As a 12-year summer resident of Hatteras Island, I learned a lot from this book. Just wonderful!

The Question of Play
Published in Textbook Binding by University Press of America (October, 1984)
Author: Drew Hyland
Average review score:

An excellent book!
I used this book extensively for my BA thesis, which was on different paradigms of play. Hyland is a wonderful writer (especially for a philosopher) and his perspective is uniquely intelligent on the subject of play. I wholeheartedly recommend this book to anyone, and especially to those who are interested in play and/or philosophy.

The RIDDLE IN THE RARE BOOK (NANCY DREW 126) : THE RIDDLE IN THE RARE BOOK
Published in Paperback by Aladdin Library (01 August, 1995)
Author: Carolyn Keene
Average review score:

The best Nancy Drew book!
I rated this book 5 stars because, although it's not the best mystery I've ever read, it's the best Nancy Drew book I've read. I especially enjoyed the part about how book collectors mark books to show that they are theirs (for example, a pinpoint on page 4, line 4). The book kept me guessing about who the culprit would be until the very end. Good book for those of you who like Nancy Drew.
